Art Camp FAQs

  • Class size is limited to either 8 or 10 participants depending on the age group to ensure a student-centered art experience.

  • The multi-session “camps” will be held at Hamlin Memorial Library located at 123 S. Mechanic Street, Smethport PA

The building and meeting room is handicap accessible. Art making sessions will be held in the sunny, large meeting room.

  • To ensure student safety parents/guardians are required to sign-in their child at drop-off and sign-out their child at pick-up. When coming to a session or pick-up, please use the meeting room door located to the left of the library’s main entrance.

Drop-off will begin no sooner than 10 minutes before class start time.

    • If a different person will be picking your child up at please indicate this on the day’s sign-in/out form.

    • Students who arrive late may miss instruction which is vital to project success and completion.

    • Morning sessions pick-up is promptly* at 11:30 am

    • Afternoon session pick-up is promptly* at 3:00 pm

    • Please pick-up your child on-time and sign the class sign-in/out form.

*I am aware and understand that road construction impacts travel flow here in McKean County. I ask that parents/guardians please plan ahead when possible, it can be upsetting for a child to be left waiting with classmates already headed for home.

  • Children should wear comfortable clothing suitable for a class using paint. Art materials used during class are water-based, however there is always a possibility that an “Oopsy” during class could result in a stain.

  • We will be very busy creating during class and have very messy hands at times – I suggest that your child brings a reusable drink bottle labeled with their name for refreshment and you can have a snack waiting in the car to be enjoyed on the ride home as he/she tells you about class.

  • While it is tempting to stay and watch the process of creativity I ask that you allow your child to attend class without your presence in the maker-space. Kiddos love to surprise and wow their parents on the final day of camp with what they create during class, its worth the wait. If you feel there is a reason to be present during the sessions please contact me to discuss this.

  • Children have growth spurts – its a fact of life; if you need to update the size shirt that has been reserved please contact me directly by email before June 30, 2024. email: hello@juliemader.com
