Wayfinding Art

Resident-centered caregiving

When hallways look similar it can be confusing for both residents and visitors to find the correct room. Visual prompts and aids allows those with dementia and memory problems to maintain a sense of independence as they can move from one place to another with greater ease.

Residents of Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport, Pennsylvania participated in an opportunity to create their own meaningful wayfinding artwork. Paintings with bold graphic designs were created by residents and were hung in corresponding hallways to serve as both a gallery tour and visual cues.
